Yes, i agree, sao sebastiao is really a nice village. we bought 11 years ago one of these old houses and we are still renovating it.
the last 12 month we passed are sabbaticla there and we enjoyed the time, the house and the village deeply. And we were very impressed by all the work which is done to maintain the wonderful landscape.
We support your idea of keeping old houses alive, but it seems that the prices are unrealistic. i heard an expert say, that portugals market is too expensive. in some years the prices will/have to/go down. It's a pitty that a lot of these wonderful houses are destroyed then, all this work.
